      OXYPACK Portable Oxygen Systems

Two aluminum cylinders are available in 22, and 24 cubic foot sizes. All are equipped with a high pressure relief valve. Cylinders can be refilled, without any special refill fittings, at most oxygen refill facilities (aircraft, medical, industrial). Oxygen is normally refilled directly into the main fitting on the cylinder without the need of a special fitting. A special adapter is available to allow cylinders to be refilled from a standard airport oxygen system refill fitting used for refilling built-in oxygen equipped aircraft. Cylinders have to be hydrostatic tested every five years. Cost for the test is usually less than $25.00. All cylinders with any type of pressurized gas have to be tested.

The 22 cu.ft. system is recommended for Piper and Mooney aircraft where the shorter length is more suitable for attaching to the aircraft's seat. Club seating aircraft also use the more compact 22 cu.ft. cylinder. The longer 24 cu.ft. cylinder is recommended for the Beechcraft and Cessna aircraft.

The OXYPACK PORTABLE systems are supplied with our exclusive Nelson Oxypack carrying case and attachment harness. Two components make up the case and harness. The harness is typically installed on the right front seat of most aircraft. It consists of two joined straps. One goes vertically around the seat and the other horizontally around the seat. They are joined at the middle.

A stainless steel hook assembly is installed on the harness on the back side of the assembly. This hook supports the carrying case. A person setting in the seat with an attached harness will not notice or beware of the installation of the harness.

The case is constructed from two layers of heavy duty fabric that are separated with a thin layer of foam rubber, thus providing exceptional protection for the regulator and cylinder. A zippered top closure assembly completely seals the equipment. A side pouch located for easy access by the pilot is attached to the case that contains the flow meters and Oxymizers. A padded fabric handle is provided for comfortable carrying of the case.

The Oxypack case is attached to the harness hook assembly that has been installed on the aircraft's seat. Secondary straps are provided on the harness assembly. These are used to firmly secure the case to the seat in case of side and negative flight loads. Two secondary straps are attached to each side of the case near the hook assembly. This takes care of the side loads. Another secondary strap is attached to the bottom of the vertical portion of the strap assembly. It is attached to the bottom of the case. This takes care of the negative loads.

With all straps snugly tightened the OXYPACK PORTABLE system and its Oxypack case is very securely attached to the seat. The seat can still easily slide and tilt as before. The entire assembly takes very little space and usually doesn't create any undue discomfort for the passenger sitting behind the oxygen system. With the OXYPACK PORTABLE system in place, the pilot can easily operate oxygen system. Even the oxygen pressure gauge is located for easy inspection during flight.
